Thailand Painting Holidays

paint on the banks of the Mekong River

A wonderful combination of painting tuition and Thai culture in a small guest house on the banks of the Mekong River at Phon Phisai in NE Thailand.  During the dry cool months of October to January each year the guesthouse provides a combination of painting tuition and Thai rural culture experience to 4 guests each week.

The visits are individually tailored to provide the level of tuition and Thai experience that each visitor seeks.  This website contains details of the tuition, experiences and facilities together with prices and booking facilities.

Winter fires

Adam warming himself by the fire

October through to January is the cool season in NE Thailand.  The weather is perfect temperatures going down to 16-17 C at night and rising to 26-28 C during the day.  Us Australians love it to escape the blistering heat of our summer and the Europeans and North Americans love it to escape the bitter cold.

For the local people the mornings are cold and they light fires in the street to warm themselves.  This makes for some wonderful photographic scenes with the smoke rising through the morning light and its very pleasant to warm yourself by the fire and watch the people.
