Wat Prai in Phon Phisai and the grotto  See in Google Map

By the Mekong River in the centre of Phon Phisai there is a temple where huge golden Naga Serpents rearing to the sky.  This is where the Naga Serpents come out of the river each October during the Naga Festival when the balls of fire erupt from the Mekong

Deep beneath the serpents there is a magic mysterious grotto.  When you emerge there is a cascading fountain where you can gain merit by throwing coins into the water.

The grotto is a pleasant kilometre walk along the bank of the river from Thailand Painting Holidays and well worth a visit.
