Thailand Painting Holidays

paint on the banks of the Mekong River

A wonderful combination of painting tuition and Thai culture in a small guest house on the banks of the Mekong River at Phon Phisai in NE Thailand.  During the dry cool months of October to January each year the guesthouse provides a combination of painting tuition and Thai rural culture experience to 4 guests each week.

The visits are individually tailored to provide the level of tuition and Thai experience that each visitor seeks.  This website contains details of the tuition, experiences and facilities together with prices and booking facilities.

Fortune telling

A fortune teller in the vilage

If you would like your fortune told, there is usually a Mor Doo (fortune teller) at the Lao Market, but you will need Waree to translate for you.  Fortune tellers sometimes visit the villages, as this one did.   As they are very superstitious, Thai people take it very seriously

You can also learn about your future from a set of bamboo sticks at some Wats. Each of the sticks has a number. Shake the sticks in a container and eventually one will come out. That number corresponds to a printed outline of future events. Unfortunately, these predictions are in Thai so you will need Waree to translate for you. It’s still good fun though!

I you are game to risk knowing your destination Waree will help you have your fortune told during your photography and painting Thailand discovery vacation.
